Gifts of Stock or Securities

Donating appreciated stock you’ve held for more than a year can let you avoid capital gains tax while giving more than a cash gift of the same value — and you can typically deduct the full fair market value. Contact our Senior Development Manager, Rebecca Adams, at rebecca@greenwaysfornashville.org or 615-200-8278 for stock transfer instructions.

Employer Matching Gifts

Many employers match charitable donations dollar-for-dollar. Check with your HR department or click here to see if your gift to Greenways for Nashville can be multiplied at no cost to you.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you’re 70½ or older, you can donate directly from your IRA to Greenways for Nashville. A qualified charitable distribution counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and is not taxed as income.

Leave a Legacy Through Your Will or Estate

You can include Greenways for Nashville in your estate plans with a simple bequest in your will or living trust. A specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a particular asset. A bequest costs you nothing now and can be updated at any time.

Suggested bequest language:

“I give, devise, and bequeath [the sum of $____ / ____% of my estate / a description of property] to Greenways for Nashville (EIN 62-1570596), PO Box 196340, Nashville, TN 37219-6340, for its general charitable purposes.”

Note: This bequest language is a suggested starting point. We recommend having your attorney or financial advisor review final wording as part of your estate planning.

You can also name Greenways for Nashville as a full or partial beneficiary of a retirement account (IRA, 401(k)), life insurance policy, or donor-advised fund. This often is as simple as updating a beneficiary designation form with your plan administrator.

If you’ve already included us in your plans, or are considering it, please let our Senior Development Manager know at rebecca@greenwaysfornashville.org. We’d love to thank you, and it helps us plan for the future.
